Batu MP Prabakaran's SUV pelted with eggs

PETALING JAYA: A white SUV belonging to Batu MP P. Prabakaran (pic) was pelted with eggs on Friday (Nov 15) night while parked behind restaurant on Jalan Ipoh at about 11pm.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy confirmed a police report was received about the incident, adding that the report was lodged on Saturday (Nov 16) morning.
"Initial investigations revealed there were egg shells on the front windscreen and the bonnet as well as the driver's door.
"Prabakaran's driver was not at the scene during the incident," he said.
He added that the case has been classified under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and damaging public property, he added
"There has been no arrest so far," he said.
Malaysiakini quoted Prabakaran as saying that he was attending a meeting at a restaurant and had told his driver to go home.
"After the meeting ended, I headed towards the car and noticed there were eggshells near the driver's side. I found that the entire back portion was splattered with eggs, and there were shells on the roof and front windscreen," he said.
He added that he lodged the police report as he was concerned for his safety.
It was reported that calls have emerged for Prabakaran to step aside following a court decision to declare the disqualification of GE14 candidate Tian Chua as invalid.
The calls were issued by a group of 14 NGOs from the Batu parliamentary constituency who wanted a by-election to be called to re-elect Tian Chua.
In a statement signed by the "Network of Batu NGOs", the group said that as the court had vindicated Tian Chua's eligibility to contest, it was time Prabakaran allowed him to get back the Batu parliamentary seat.
In the last general election, Tian Chua and PKR endorsed Prabakaran as an independent.
