KUALA LUMPUR: Among atrocities I find most ‘triggering’, incidents of cruelty to cats are special for their unique ability to make me go foaming-at-the-mouth rabid with rage. (That and Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’).

The latest barbarity making me itch to set the world on fire was reported last week on a Malaysian animal clinic’s Facebook page, which is otherwise hairball-choked with videos and images of cats being cute (Toto, we’re not in Havana anymore).

The Qaimeera Veterinary Clinic in Bangi, Selangor published a post on Nov 1 documenting its treatment of a kitten which had been subjected to rather unusual abuse, thanks to its tormentor’s creative, outside-of-the-box use of a heavy duty stapler.

Innovatively re-imagining the feline as stacks of paper, or a corkboard, the piece of s*** ‘hooman’ embedded at least 24 staples all over the kitten’s body, as it undoubtedly writhed and yowled in agony.

Spangling the cat to the point that even the most badass, piercings-covered body modification artist would think is over-the-top, the sadist implanted the approximately 10mm staples on its forehead, under its eyes, on its paws, near its genitals and even in its mouth.

Perhaps unhappy with the final result (the body bling does nothing for the kitten’s appearance), the abuser (on whom I have placed a diarrhoea hex) abandoned it to suffer and perish.

(Before we continue, I would like to state that were I to run into the stapler-happy degenerate, I would try my hand at decorating him/her with some stationery of my own. Shove fistfuls of paperclips up the nostrils, perhaps. Sharpen a few fingers with a pencil sharpener, maybe. Superglue the lips together, I think. Stuff a sizable Hello Kitty eraser up the bu** (definitely).)

The mutilated kitty was thankfully discovered some time later by a horrified animal lover who rushed it to Qaimeera. Despite being in considerable pain, the feline – which appears to be a medium-haired Main Coon/Oriental mix – managed to demonstrate affection (giving rise to later suspicion that it was somebody’s stolen pet).

The Qaimeera vet (who very demurely labelled the abuser “Satan”) did a phenomenal job of removing the Iron Man hardware from the distressed cat. Discharged just 24 hours later, the kitten – nicknamed Stapler Cat (we need to work on that) – was eventually released into the care of its saviour ‘hooman’, who had decided to provide it a forever home.

Meanwhile, the Facebook post’s comments section is cascading with a lava flow of denouncements of the stapler-armed s***head (I learned several fabulous new profanities I will pepper my speech with from now on); and a mountain stream of well wishes for Stapler Kitty, who can now chase after the proverbial red laser dot without setting off any metal detectors.

I don’t know if an investigation has been launched on the case, but if the cops ever manage to lasso the guilty mother******, I hope to be alerted, so that I can pay him/her a visit in the clink and say: “Well, well, well!
