The party will also ban candidates from holding ‘ceramahs’ or dinners to garner support.

PKR’s Objections, Appeals and Disciplinary Panel chairman Dr Syed Husin Ali says stern action will be taken from now on.

PETALING JAYA: PKR today issued a warning to two party members contesting in the impending PKR polls for using vulgar language and making allegations against other candidates.

The party’s Objections, Appeals and Disciplinary Panel chairman Dr Syed Husin Ali warned that the party will not hesitate to take stern action if the offences were repeated.

Syed, however, did not reveal the identity of the two members but said their statements were published by the media.

“We let them off with a mild warning as the offences were committed prior to nominations in July.

“But starting from today, anyone who makes wild allegations against another candidate or threatens them, we will take stern action,” he said.
Meanwhile, the party’s election committee (JPP) today banned candidates from holding ‘ceramahs’ and organise dinners.
Campaigning, JPP chairman Rashid Din said, must be done behind closed doors, with attendance restricted only to 100 people.
Campaign material, he also said must only feature the candidate’s face and is only meant to introduce the said candidate.
“Group shots are not allowed.”
Rashid said that candidates, especially those in government, should not abuse their power to win votes. Candidates he added, are also banned from buying votes or threatening members to vote for them.
“Those who breach the rules will not be allowed to contest.”
