Fake viral photo of man said to be Nhaveen circulating on Social Media, causing more pain to family

Fake viral photo of man said to be Nhaveen adding to family's pain

GEORGE TOWN: A photo of a nude and bloodied man, who appears to have been beaten up, is being circulated as that of deceased teen T. Nhaveen.
The photo is causing additional pain to family members, already distraught by the death of the 18-year-old.
Nhaveen's aunt G. Premalatha (pic), 35, said it was hurtful for such pictures to be circulated.
"It is definitely not him in those pictures. Nhaveen does not have any tattoos and is not skinny like the boy in the photo," she said at the wake held at the Batu Gantung funeral parlour Friday.
Premalatha urged people to stop sharing the post.
It is learnt that the picture being circulated came from a Facebook post about a man who was beaten up by the public after trying to break into two houses in Kuching City Mall.
She also said that a fake Facebook account in her name was created a few days ago.
"The person created the account and started adding people.
"That is not my account and I have reported it to Facebook as well," she said.
Nhaveen who was savagely beaten by a group of teenagers passed away at the Penang Hospital at 5.31pm Thursday.
He was found unconscious at around midnight last Saturday at a field next to Jalan Kaki Bukit in Bukit Gelugor.
Nhaveen, who was also sodomised and burnt on his back, suffered internal bleeding in his head and abdomen.
His funeral will be held at 2pm Friday at the Batu Gantung crematorium.
Police have since arrested five suspects, aged between 16 and 18, over the attack.
