KUALA LUMPUR: The death of a woman, who fell 50m from a cliff in Bukit Permai, may have been an accident after a short burst of rage from her boyfriend.
Police said the couple were sitting near the edge of the cliff along Jalan Bukit Permai 1A at about 12.45am on Friday when they had an argument about their relationship.
Ampang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Nazri Zawawi said that investigations found that the 28-year-old woman, identified as bank worker Jaspal Kaur (pic), might have fallen off after she was slapped by her boyfriend in the neck during their fight.
“The slap may have caused her to lose her balance and fall to her death. It may have just been an accident without any intention to cause her death. But we are still investigating the man for murder,” he said.
The 35-year-old man has been remanded until Nov 5 to assist in investigations.
A salesman witnessed the incident and called authorities for help.
Pandan Indah Fire and Rescue Department officials arrived at the scene at about 1am and pulled the woman out of the ravine.
She was declared dead at the scene. Her boyfriend, who remained at the spot, was arrested by police.
The victim’s body was taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for a post-mortem and was claimed by her family at about 7am yesterday and her remains were buried at the Petaling Jaya cemetery.
A family member said path da bhog prayers for the woman will be held at the Gurdwara Sahib in Petaling Jaya on Nov 15.
