KUALA LUMPUR: E-cigarettes that contain nicotine can only be sold by licensed pharmacists and registered medical practioners, says Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
"E-cigarettes with nicotine require registration under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations 1984, Sale of Drugs Act 1952.
"It can only be sold by licenced pharmacists and registered medical practitioners, and must be recorded," he said in a statement after chairing a special committee meeting on e-cigarette here.
Unauthorised sale of nicotine is an offence under the Poison Act 1952.
The Cabinet had decided not to ban e-cigarettes or 'vape'.
