Short-lived motherhood for teacher
Gone too soon: Hospital workers bringing the remains of Mohammad Alif Dinzly to his family at the Malacca Hospital mortuary.
MALACCA: After three years of marriage with no children, teacher Rasidah Abdul Latif adopted a baby boy several months ago.
Sadly, it was a short-lived mother-and-child bonding as both were killed in a six-vehicle highway pile-up that also claimed a third life near Senawang, Negri Sembilan, at about 4.30pm on Friday.
The accident at the 244th kilometre of the North-South Expressway caused a massive traffic jam stretching from the Senawang exit to the Pedas Linggi exit.
A police spokesman said a tanker lorry travelling south from Serem-ban spun out of control and stalled across the highway.
This caused five other vehicles, including a car driven by Rasidah’s husband, Khairul Nazri Yusof, 34, to crash one after another into the vehicles ahead of them as they could not stop in time.
Rasidah, a primary school teacher in Lancang, Pahang, died on the spot when the family car rammed into the lorry while 10-month-old Muhammad Alif Dinzly Abdullah died at the Malacca Hospital. Khairul suffered injuries on his body.
The driver of an express bus involved in the collission, Ahmad Zaki Kassim, 33, also died on the spot. The bus was not carrying any passengers during the incident.
The other vehicles involved in the multiple crash were a taxi, another lorry carrying construction materials and a motorcycle.
“Rasidah loves children. Her husband works in Shah Alam and they meet once a week,” said Rasidah’s sister, Anizah, 39, when met at the Malacca Hospital yesterday.
She said Mohammad Alif Dinzly has a younger twin brother, who was adopted at the same time the elder baby was adopted by Rasidah.
Anizah and her family, along with several other sisters, claimed the child’s remains at the hospital mortuary after the post-mortem was completed at about 10.40am.
Anizah said her other siblings were at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban to claim Rasidah’s remains.
The family then returned to their home at Felda Kemboja Jengka 4 in Maran, Pahang to bury Rasidah and her baby.
