Man shot dead at recycling centre

NIBONG TEBAL: A 29-year-old man was shot dead at close range at a recycling centre at Taman Puteri Gunong in Simpang Ampat near here.
M. Partipan, an unemployed who is still single died on the spot after sustaining injuries in his rib in the 9pm incident on Friday.
Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mazlan Kesah said the Partipan was gunned down while he was walking on the road at the same housing estate where he lives.
He said the gunman fired six shots and escaped with his accomplice, both believed to be in their 30s before they escaped in a black Myvi.
“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” SAC Mazlan told reporters at the crime scene on Friday. Also present was South Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Shafien Mamat.
SAC Mazlan said that police believed the motive of the shooting is related to drugs and revenge.
He said Partipan also survived in a shooting incident on June 20, this year at the same area.
During the incident he sustained injuries in his ribs and finger and we do not ruled out the possibility of the same suspects involved in the shooting.
“Initial investigations revealed Partipan also had four previous criminal records including one narcotics case.
SAC Mazlan urged those with information over the incident to call the nearest police station to facilitate investigations.
He said the gunman had used a semi-auto pistol in the shooting.
The body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post mortem.
