Van driver charged for death of two men in amuk incident


KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 7, 2013): A van driver was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today for the murder of two men in an amuk incident at the Taman Melati LRT station here two weeks ago.

On the first count, Muhammad Zamri Yusof, 26, was charged with murdering Lee Kah Ghee, 44, a stationery trader, in front of the Taman Melati LRT station, Persiaran Pertahanan, Wangsa Maju here between 11am and noon on Oct 24, 2013.


He was also charged with murdering Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) College student Kwan Chun Thai, 25, near LRT pole no: P 24/55, Kampung Wira Jaya Luar, Jalan Tumbuhan, Wangsa Maju here at the same time and date.
The offence carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Muhammad Zamri, who looked calm, nodded his head after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin. However, no plea was recorded.
Magistrate Erry Shahriman then ordered Muhammad Zamri to be sent to Tanjung Rambutan Hospital for mental observation and fixed Dec 6 for mention.
Prosecuting officer ASP Zulkifli Osman prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. –Bernama
