MOSCOW: President-elect of the United States (US) Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the nomination of businessman John Phelan for the position of Secretary of the Navy in his administration, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.
"It is a great honor for me to announce John Phelan as the next Secretary of the United States Navy. Phelan will be a key enabler for our Naval Service members and a steadfast leader in achieving my ' America First' vision . He will put the interests of the US Navy first. above all else," Trump said in a statement.
Phelan is one of the founders of MSD Capital. He has a diploma in political studies as well as a specialization in business administration.
"His extraordinary knowledge and experience will improve the lives of Americans who bravely serve our Nation. Phelan will deliver real results for the Navy and our Nation. I look forward to working with him," the statement said.
