Ei Leen (left) pleaded not guilty in the Kuantan Sessions Court to two charges of deliberately trying to poison her husband and mother-in-law, five years ago.

KUANTAN: The wife of a senior police officer pleaded not guilty in the Kuantan Sessions Court to two charges of deliberately trying to poison her husband and mother-in-law, five years ago.

The accused, Mou Ei Leen @ Eileen Mou, 42, made the confession, after the charges were read before Judge Azman Mustapha.

In the first charge, the mother of two was charged with intentionally causing injury by using poison against her 46-year-old husband.







The act was allegedly carried out at house No. 2, Lorong Seri Kuantan 23, here in July 2019.

For the second charge, the accused is accused of committing the act on her mother-in-law at the elderly welfare home at Lorong Seri Kuantan 59, here in June 2020.

For both charges, the mother of two was charged under Section 328 of the Penal Code which leads to a prison sentence of up to 10 years and can also be fined.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutors, Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin and Aqharie Durranie Aziz while the accused was represented by lawyer, Datuk Bob S. Arumugam.

Before that, Raja Zaizul Faridah proposed that a bail of RM15,000 be charged for each charge.

She also applied for an additional condition, which is to report to the nearest police station and hand over her international passport to the court until the trial is over.

The lawyer representing the accused also appealed for the bail to be reduced because she supports two children aged 12 and 15.

The court allowed bail of RM6,000 with one surety and requested that the accused hand over her international passport to the court.

In addition, Ei Leen was instructed not to interfere with prosecution witnesses until the trial was over.

The case is set for June 27
