KUALA LUMPUR (May 10): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said on Friday that the King has consented to the extension of Tan Sri Azam Baki’s contract as chief commissioner at the agency for another one year, beginning May 12, 2024.
According to the Ketua Setiausha Negara, Tan Sri Mohd. Zuki Ali, Azam's service extension will be extended for one year with effect from May 12.
“Adalah dimaklumkan bahawa selaras dengan subseksyen 5(1) dan (2) Akta Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia 2009 [Akta 694], Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong telah memperkenankan pelantikan semula Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Azam Baki sebagai Ketua Pesuruhjaya Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia untuk tempoh satu tahun berkuat kuasa mulai 12 Mei 2024,” katanya dalam kenyataan.Azam began holding the position of Chairman of the SPRM Commission on May 9 2020, replacing Latheefa Beebi Koya who made the decision to shorten her service contract.
