Police Arrested A Man Who Attacked A Policeman At Dato Keramat Police Station at 4.45am

GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested a man believed to have attacked a policeman at the Dato' Keramat Police Station, George Town on Sunday.

The incident is said to have happened at 4.45 this morning when a 35-year-old local man riding a motorcycle entered the police station and suddenly attacked the sentry on duty.

The suspect tried to seize the HK MP5 type submachine gun of the sentry. The Sentry helped by a colleague managed to arrest the suspect.

Sources said that during the incident, the suspect was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was reportedly injured when the police tried to arrest him and he is currently receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital (HPP)

"The suspect was successfully arrested but suffered minor injuries during the arrest process and is receiving treatment at Penang Hospital, the suspect's condition is stable," said the source.

It is understood that Penang Police Chief, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad will issue a media statement regarding the case in the near future
