KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has ordered the bus company involved in the issue of its driver being rude to a passenger, to conduct further investigations to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.
Taking a serious view of the incident, APAD in a statement today informed that the company has suspended the bus driver involved.
"APAD once again wishes to emphasize its position that it will never compromise against any wrongdoing by land public transport service operators and drivers that attempt to undermine the public's trust in land public transport services," according to the statement.
APAD issued the statement following an incident of a public service bus driver who was rude to a passenger in Johor Bahru, Johor.
In a 50-second video recording that went viral on social media recently, the driver of the stop-and-go bus scolded and abused a female passenger before kicking the passenger out.
APAD informed that it would like to remind any company to monitor the performance of their respective drivers in ensuring the safety of other road users.
In addition, a firm reminder is also given to all operators and service drivers to always practice professional and prudent work ethics.
"Any service non-compliance will be subject to action based on the enforced rules. The public is also advised to remain calm and not speculate until the investigation is complete.
"Any complaint about public transport services can be channeled through the official complaint channel provided by the company or the government," he said.
