PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal here today upheld the High Court's decision which sentenced six men to death for the murder of Deputy Public Prosecutor, Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais, nine years ago.
The first to sixth appellants are former pathologist, Colonel Dr R Kunaseegaran, 61; money lender, S Ravi Chanran, 53, and four unemployed, R Dinishwaran, 32; AK Thinesh Kumar, 31; M Vishwanath, 34 and S Nimalan, 31.
The unanimous decision was made by a panel of three judges chaired by Datuk Hadhariah Syed Ismail who sat together with Datuk Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim and Datuk Azmi Ariffin.
The six men appealed the High Court's decision on 10 July 2020 which convicted and sentenced them to death by hanging after being found guilty of murdering Kevin.
They are accused of killing the deputy public prosecutor while on his way from Jalan Dutamas Raya to Number 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya between 7am and 8pm on 4 September 2015.
Charges are made in accordance with Section 302 of the Penal Code read with Section 34 of the same code.
