Tun M claimed that Mirzan was threatened with five years in prison

Dr Mahathir said his son had not been mentioned to be brought before the court.

SHAH ALAM: Former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir Mohamed claimed that his son Mirzan was threatened with five years in prison if he did anything contrary to the prosecution.

He said his son has not been mentioned to be brought before the court.

"When you become a government and are in power, the cruelty against your political enemies is worse, if you support them as friends, even the court proceedings can be stopped," he said via Facebook on Friday.

He explained that many names of government supporters in the 'Pandora papers' such as Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Member of Parliament for Selayang, William Leong Jee Keen and International and Industry Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz were not investigated, far from alleged.

"There are also the names of several businessmen such as Lim Kok Thay, Mahmud Bekir, Tiong Hiew King, Larry Low Hock Ping, Datuk Yamani Hafez Tan Sri Musa and the late Tan Sri G Gnanalingam in the Pandora papers," he said.

Dr Mahathir's latest statement is believed to be related to the actions of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) which is investigating Mirzan in connection with allegations of money laundering.

The MACC on Wednesday summoned Mirzan to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya with a notice order issued in accordance with Section 36(1)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.

The notice required Mirzan to declare all movable and immovable assets in his holdings either inside or outside the country within 30 days from the date of the notice.

MACC explained that the order was a follow-up action from MACC's investigation regarding the information in the Panama Papers report as well as Mirzan's business activities involving the sale and purchase of government-linked companies (GLCs).

"Anwar accused me of having billions of ringgit for abusing his power while being Prime Minister, I want proof of the truth of this statement.

"Anwar did not provide evidence and I sued him for defamation against me and asked for evidence to be presented in court," he said.

He explained that a year has passed, no evidence has been pointed out and finally it is said that the evidence is with Petronas but Petronas is now under Anwar
