A workshop worker was jailed for two months and fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court here, today, after pleading guilty to hitting a man on the side of the road in front of the Jalan Langat-Klang traffic lights, last Sunday. The incident went viral on Social Media

The accused, Mohd Faizul Nazri, 39, pleaded guilty after the charges were read before Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat.

Mohd Faizul was ordered to serve his prison sentence from the date he was arrested.

He was also ordered to serve an additional two months in prison if he failed to pay the prescribed fine.

Siti Zubaidah in her judgment hoped that the accused would take heed of the incident in addition to reminding the accused not to follow his feelings and show off on the road.

According to the charges, Mohd Faizul intentionally caused serious injury to a 21-year-old man, which was a broken and cracked eighth jaw bone on the left side.

He is alleged to have committed the offense on the side of the road, in front of the Jalan Langat - Klang traffic lights heading towards Klang at 7.15pm, last Sunday.

Earlier, the lawyer representing the accused, Nicholas Cheoh requested that the accused be sentenced to a minimum prison sentence from the date of arrest.

"I understand that the accused's wife is heavily pregnant and he wants to be by his wife's side when she gives birth to their first child.

"The accused also regretted and gave an undertaking not to repeat the offence," he said.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nurul Jannah Aimi asked the court to give a commensurate fine following the fact that there were accused witnesses who acted mercilessly to the point of injuring the victim.

"The victim in this case suffered a fractured jaw and cases of gangsterism on the road often occur. "I am asking for an appropriate punishment to teach a lesson not only to the accused but to the public," he said.

Earlier last Monday, Klang Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said, his side received a report from the victim, a 21-year-old local who claimed to have been held up by a car with three men in it.
