Barisan Nasional (BN) has unofficially won the Pelangai State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat

Kuala Lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) has unofficially won the Pelangai State Legislative Assembly (Dun) seat in the by-election (PRK) this time, in a three-cornered clash.




As of 8.10pm, BN through its candidate, Datuk Amizar Abu Adam obtained 7,324 votes, thus defeating Perikatan Nasional (PN) represented by Kasim Samat who obtained 4,375 votes while the Independent candidate, Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli only got 43 votes.




The Pelangai Dun by-election was set following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Seri Johari Harun on 17 August.




Johari was among the 10 individuals who died in a plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam.




In the 15th General Election (GE-15), Johari won the Pelangai Dun seat with a majority of 4,048 votes, defeating the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Kasim Samat.




He obtained 7,308 votes compared to 3,260 votes received by his opponent, while two other candidates namely Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri from Pakatan Harapan (2,031) and Isa Ahmad from Pejuang (65 votes).
