KUALA LUMPUR - Individuals involved in a viral video of stepping on and damaging a kolam- traditional floor decorations in conjunction with Deepavali at one of the KPJ Specialist Hospitals have recently been suspended pending investigation.
KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ Healthcare) in a statement today publicly apologized to all Malaysians, especially to the Indian community following the immoral actions of its staff.
He said, as a provider of health care services, he always treats and respects the diversity of cultures in Malaysia.
"We would like to state clearly that KPJ Healthcare does not condone such actions and in no way reflects our culture, values or practices.
"We are disappointed by the irresponsible actions of this individual and the party involved has been suspended pending further investigation.
"We have also made a police report about the incident and will continue to cooperate with the authorities regarding this matter," he explained.
Two hospital staff were remanded for three days to assist in the investigation into the incident.
North Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said, the two suspects aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested after appearing to give evidence at the District Police Headquarters (IPD).
