Thailand logged 147 new Covid-19 fatalities and a record 22,782 new cases over the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Thursday morning.
There were 22,407 cases in the general population and 375 among prison inmates.
Over the previous 24 hours, 23,649 Covid-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
Since April 1, around when the third wave of Covid-19 began, there have been 810,908 Covid-19 patients, 596,375 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, authorities have confirmed 839,771 Covid-19 cases, 623,801 of whom have already recovered.
The death toll was at 6,848 in the third wave and 6,942 from the beginning of the pandemic early last year.
The previous high of daily Covid-19 cases was at 21,838 last Saturday when there were 212 new fatalities.
