Delivery Man Throws Acid on a Policeman after delivering a hamper in front of his house




KUANTAN (Bernama): A policeman suffered burns in an acid attack in front of his house at Indera Mahkota here, on Monday (Feb 24).

Sgt Kamarul Zaharin Abdullah, 51, who was attached to the Pahang police Criminal Investigation Department, was splashed with the corrosive liquid by a man pretending to deliver a hamper to him.

Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the victim suffered burn injuries to his chest, back, left arm and face.

"The suspect who was on a motorcycle had called the victim to come out and collect the hamper at around 6.10pm, before splashing the liquid on the policeman who had turned to walk back towards his house.


"Checks revealed the suspect had earlier gone to the victim's house and rung the doorbell but left the premises when he realised there was no one at home, ” he told reporters here on Tuesday (Feb 25), adding that the incident was captured on CCTV.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years and fine or whipping, upon conviction.

Meanwhile, Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Abd Jalil Hassan when contacted, said the victim had been transferred to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Kuala Lumpur and was in a stable condition.- Bernama
