KUALA LUMPUR: Two members of Klima Action Malaysia (Kamy) have had their statements recorded over the #MYClimateRally that the non-governmental organisation held last Sunday (July 7).

Group members Baviniaraj Rajendran and Ili Nadiah Dzulfakar went into the Dang Wangi police station here at 11am on Saturday (July 13).

They left at around 1pm.

When met by the media, they said the police were investigating the rally under the Peaceful Assembly Act for failure to give 10 days' notice before a gathering.

However, she said she was not the organiser of the rally but was present when meetings were conducted with the police to inform them of the gathering.

She added that the police also asked about the speakers who attended the rally.

Both Baviniaraj and Nadia said all relevant communication had been relayed in accordance with the law in their preparation for the rally last week.

Lawyer Vince Tan Hoo Seh said it was for the police to complete the investigation paper.

"Once the investigation paper is ready, they will pass it over to the prosecution. Then they'll decide to press charges or to NFA (no further action)," he said.

The #MYClimateRally, organised by Kamy, saw the participation of several NGOs including Association for the Protection of the Natural Heritage of Malaysia (Peka), Suara Rakyat Malaysia and Parti Sosialis Malaysia.

The rally was held over a lack of initiatives and policies to address climate change issues by the government.
