Malaysia, China restart East Coast Rail Link project

Malaysia has officially relaunched its East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project with China. The project was suspended in July 2018 by the Pakatan Harapan government due to high costs. Under the revised deal, the cost of the ECRL is cut by about a third to US$11 billion. An auspicious ceremony, complete with fireworks, was held to mark the blasting of one of tunnels in the east coast state of Terengganu.
