PETALING JAYA: Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said he verbally attacked party deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali out of anger.

His explanation came amid calls for PKR to take disciplinary action against him over his insulting outburst.

Farhash, who is also the political secretary of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recently courted controversy after yelling “Azmin semburit” (Azmin gay sex) to a crowd of supporters following his release from police remand on Tuesday.

In a press statement issued yesterday, Farhash said he was convinced that his arrest was meant to create a negative perception against Anwar, as the series of questions he was asked were unrelated to the video or the distribution of any illegal material.

On Tuesday, Farhash along with former Santubong PKR youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and another man were released from the Dang Wangi police district headquarters at 4pm after being remanded since July 16 over a sex video scandal implicating Azmin and Haziq.

Farhash, who had previously challenged Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador to arrest Azmin, said the sex video scandal was pegged as a political conspiracy although it was actually not.

“I was remanded to assist an investigation. There seems to be an eagerness to pin the sex video as a political conspiracy when it clearly was a moral issue concerning party members.

“I was clearly not one of the actors so no, I have not breached any code of ethics,” he said when asked if his behaviour warranted discplinary action.

Yesterday, former Selangor PKR deputy information chief K. Gunasekaran also lodged a complaint urging the party’s disciplinary board to act against Farhash for his comment, adding that it was blatant disrespect.

“Farhash should have respected the deputy president. The police had previously explained that Azmin was not identified in the video.

“He should not have used such a word,” he told reporters after submitting his complaint at the headquarters here yesterday.

Gunasekaran, who was told by the disciplinary board that the investigations into his complaint could take up to 90 days, called for

it to be expedited since there was video evidence.

He also said other offenders had stern action taken against them, such as in Haziq’s case where he was sacked from PKR after two weeks of deliberation by the party’s disciplinary committee.

Haziq was dismissed from the party three weeks after he publicly confessed that he and Azmin were the two men in the sex video.
