Three elephants found dead in village

JOHOR BARU: Three female elephants were found dead at a plantation area of a village in Kluang after ingesting poison.
“The people of Kampung Sri Timur 3 noticed that the elephants were lying motionless on the ground for quite some time.
“They then reported the incident to the police as they suspected that the elephants were dead,” said Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Abduh Ismail, adding police received information about the incident at 9.30am yesterday.
He added that this was the first time such an incident occurred in the area.
Johor Perhilitan director Salman Saaban confirmed that the elephants had ingested poison and the matter was being investigated.
“We are still waiting for reports from the Forensic Department in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
Photos and videos of the elephants have also been circulating on social media and many have voiced their disappointment and want the culprits caught.
