PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
PUTRAJAYA: Azmin Ali said he had proposed for PKR to sack Haziq Aziz, who is at the centre of the gay sex video, to be given the boot after the latter was found to be campaigning for Barisan Nasional in the last general election.
“That is basic logic,” the PKR deputy president told reporters at the sidelines of a Raya open house hosted by the Prime Minister’s Department.
Azmin also said that many had asked the same question.
The Gombak MP was asked to comment on PKR’s decision to slap Haziq, who is the Santubong PKR Youth chief, with a show cause letter following the latter’s confession that he was the man in viral gay sex video clips.
Haziq recently shocked the nation with a 30-second video clip uploaded on Facebook, in which he said he was the person seen in several viral video clips showing two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a senior minister.
Haziq named Azmin as the other person in the video, a claim the PKR deputy president says is aimed at killing his political career.
Malaysiakini previously reported that Haziq was the president of Mahasiswa Keadilan, PKR’s student wing, in 2012.
However, little is known of his activities between 2014 to 2018.
Malaysiakini reported that Haziq had in 2016 expressed his desire to leave PKR.
Azmin had previously said that Haziq had rejoined PKR after Pakatan Harapan won the May 9 polls.
