Two killed as their bike swerves into car in opposite lane

IPOH: Two friends were killed after the motorcycle they were on met crashed into a car along KM2 of the Tapah-Cameron Highlands road on Sunday night (June 9).

Tapah OCPD Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the victims were identified as K. Yoganathan, 19, from Taman Tapah and pillion rider S. Dinesh, 18, from Jalan Pahang in Tapah.

He said in the 11.30pm incident, Yoganathan lost control of his motorcycle and swerved into the opposite lane into the path of a Proton Saga heading towards Tapah town.

“The victim did not have a motorcycle licence and was heading towards Cameron Highlands.

“Both the victims were brought to the Tapah hospital for treatment, but the pillion rider died at about 1.21am.

The other victim died at 2.12am at the hospital,” he added.

He said the 27-year-old driver of the car from Kampung Nakhoda in Batu Caves did not sustained any injuries.

The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
