China national who ‘hypnotised’ old lady into giving away valuables caught by crowd at Puchong market

PETALING JAYA: A senior citizen, who believed she had been hypnotised, gave away money and valuables to scammers while in a daze.
The incident, which occurred in July, eventually led to a citizen’s arrest (by a crowd) in the Puchong Indah morning market today (Aug 19).
Subang OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said that the police were notified of the capture of the 47-year old China-native and rushed to the scene at around 7.45am.
The victim had apparently recognised the suspect at the market and raised the alarm, leading to the latter being apprehended.

The victim was present when the police arrived.
"Previously, the 62-year old victim claimed that three women had approached her at the market and said that her house had been haunted.
"She was then told to hand over her valuables and money,” ACP Mohammad Azlin said.
The victim believed herself to be in a daze when she gave up her valuables and money.
Losses were estimated to be around RM10,000, including gold chains and rings.
A police report on the scam was also made back in July by the victim.
