Decomposed body found in suitcase caught in Klang River waste trap
THE STAR
KLANG: A severely decomposed body of a man has been found in a suitcase caught in a waste trap in Sungai Klang along Jalan Harper here, barely a month after a similar discovery was made at the same spot.
North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Yusoff Mamat said an Indonesian cleaner, in his 40s, contacted the police after making the gruesome discovery at about 8.30pm Saturday.
He said that the man – who is believed to have been murdered – was found with his feet bound with nylon rope and slash marks on his skull.
There were no identification documents on the body.
"The victim had grey hair and was wearing dentures. He is about 168cm tall and was fully dressed.
"He was found wearing an 'Arrow' brand collared short-sleeve shirt, brown knee-length pants and a Bonia belt.
"An inhaler was found inside the left pocket of his pants," ACP Mohd Yusoff told reporters at the district police headquarters on Tuesday.
The Oris-branded watch was found on the victim.
The deceased was also wearing an Oris watch on his left hand, and a magnetic bracelet on his right.
The watch is believed to have stopped ticking on Aug 31, at either 5.50am or 5.50pm.
ACP Mohd Yusoff said the man, believed to be a Malaysian, could have been dead for at least two weeks.
The body was sent to Hospital Shah Alam for a post-mortem.
On Aug 25, the decomposed body of a woman was found in a luggage bag stuck in the same waste trap at about 1pm.
ACP Mohd Yusoff said the woman's family members contacted the police hours after a press conference was held on Aug 26.
"We arrested the culprit three days later. He has been charged in court.
"The two cases are unrelated," he noted.
According to ACP Mohd Yusoff, 18 bodies have been found near the same waste trap over the past three years.
Anyone with missing family members or have any information can contact the investigating officer Asst Supt Chua Hang Loun at 019-319 3193.
