Teenager killed in crash along Jalan Loke Yew
KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager died on the spot when the Perodua Myvi he was driving veered out of control and ploughed into a signpost along Jalan Loke Yew.
In the Wednesday evening incident, Khairul Zamri Khairul Adnan, 19, was driving from Cheras to Jalan Hang Tuah when he lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake the car in front.
City Traffic Investigation and Legal Affairs staff officer Deputy Supt Shafie Daud said the Myvi crashed into a post on the left side of the road, killing Khairul Zamri on the spot.
The teenager, whose body was wedged between the driver's seat and roof, died from head injuries.
Two passengers, identified as Muhamad Azril and Mohd Ridzuan, both 19, sustained injuries to the stomach and shoulder respectively.
They were sent Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for treatment.
City Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said 15 fire fighters arrived at the scene 10 minutes after a distress call was received at about 8.55pm.
The case is being probed under Section 41(10) of the Road Transport Act 1986 for reckless driving.
