PETALING JAYA: A Malindo Air passenger aircraft bound for Kota Kinabalu was forced to divert to Kuching International Airport due to bad weather and insufficient fuel.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, the plane from Kuala Lumpur was diverted after its crew members had requested permission to make an emergency landing at Kuching International Airport (KIA).
The department added that the aircraft was forced to turn around and land at KIA due to bad weather and a lack of fuel to deal with the situation.
“At 5:38 pm the control tower reported that the aircraft had safely landed,” it said
The department added that it had responded to the situation by activating its emergency procedures and dispatching its personnel from the Tabuan Jaya and Bukit Lintang stations to the airport for assistance.
The department also said that all on board the aircraft was safe and that the plane itself has since taken off from KIA.
