GEORGE TOWN: A king cobra spotted in the hills of Paya Terubong triggered panic in the area.
However, several brave residents and passers-by helped catch the reptile which was found lying motionless.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said a member of the public informed the department after they caught the snake at about 11am yesterday.
“We deployed three firemen to the scene to collect the reptile.
“The 1.5m-long king cobra could not move fast as it seemed to be full, probably after a meal,” said the spokesman when contacted.
It is believed that the king cobra could have eaten another snake or a monitor lizard earlier.

The firemen later handed over the king cobra to the National Parks and Wildlife Department.
