Najib: Why should women's squash world meet be postponed

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) wants the Youth and Sports Ministry and police to get clarification from the organisers of the Women's Squash World Championship that the meet might be postponed due to security reasons.
Najib said he viewed seriously media reports claiming that the championship scheduled from Dec 11 to 18 here might not proceed because of security risks.
"KBSMalaysia (ministry) and PDRM (police) please contact the organisers and the Professional Squash Association (PSA) to understand the real situation and overcome it," he said on his Facebook.
Najib was responding to media reports claiming that the organisers, Hallmark Events Group, had written to PSA concerning their fears about the security situation in Kuala Lumpur just after Malaysia hosted the 27th Asean Summit and Related Summits.
Najib said the security of the citizens and guests from overseas and the stabiility and peace in the country were always the top priority of Malaysia.
In fact, Malaysia had hosted numerous events, conferences and sport meets each year without any untowards incidents, he said.
"Recently, we were the hosts to foreign delegations including world leaders for the Asean Summit and Related Summits, all of which went smoothly," he added. - Bernama
