KUALA LUMPUR: Despite being impaled by a metal rod, the 15-year-old student, whose dream is to be a soldier, remains unfazed by the incident.

"It happened so fast. I did not feel any pain, I just felt ticklish," the boy who wanted to be identified as Nadzif said at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Nadzif was standing on the tractor filled with oil palm while holding the metal rod when he slipped and fell onto the sharp end of the rod at Jalan Tebuk Jawa, Sungai Air Tawar in Sabak Bernam.

The rod pierced Nadzif from his left waist to his right shoulder.

He was rushed to HKL for treatment and is expected to be transferred to the Sabak Bernam General Hospital later Thursday.

Nadzif said he does not know when he will be discharged as doctors are still assessing his condition.

He said he might delay or do his PT3 examinations in the hospital.

"My aim is to pass all my papers. My dream is to become a soldier," he said.

Nadzif, third of seven siblings, was helping his friend at the palm oil estate and not a full-time worker.

"I was helping my friend and I also wanted to earn my own money. I am used to working," said Nadzif, who has been doing odd-jobs since he was 13.

His parents have told him to stop working but Nadzif was adamant on continuing to work as he did not want to burden them.
