Three tourists die in bus-tanker collision



One of the buses lying on its side after the accident on the North-South highway where three tourists were killed.



LATEST: The Lorry Driver and another tourist have succumbed their injuries and died, making it 5 deaths in total.




YONG PENG: Three tourists, believed to be from China, have been killed after the bus they were in collided with another bus and a lorry tanker here.

In addition to the three fatalities, 15 others were injured while 24 escaped unhurt in the incident that occurred at KM94.1 of the North-South highway here.

Yong Peng Fire and Rescue Department operation officer Bakariya Mohd Salleh said they received a distress call at around 5.26pm and deployed eight firemen and a fire engine to the scene.

"Our team reached the scene about 10 minutes later and the operation ended at around 6.53pm.


He said the three deceased and 14 others who were injured were passengers from one bus while the other 24 passengers in the other bus escaped unhurt.

"The lorry tanker driver was also injured," he said when contacted.

He added that all passengers from the two buses were tourists from China, according to scattered passports found at the scene.

All injured victims were sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for treatment.
