BUKIT MERTAJAM: The father of a five-year-old girl has lodged a police report that his daughter was allegedly molested by her step-grandfather in their house.
The 40-year-old claimed that his daughter repeatedly complained of swelling in her private parts but the family thought it might be due to sensitive skin.
“When I questioned her, I was shocked to hear her say that her step-grandfather had fondled her buttocks,” the divorcee said.
He then took his daughter to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital for a check-up on Jan 16.
“The doctors discovered that there were signs of injury to her private parts,” he said.
The step-grandfather, a former fisherman in his 60s, had since moved out of the house.
Apparently, the girl’s father frequently travelled outstation for work, and the girl had been under the care of her grandparents since September.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Rusli Mohd Noor said the step-grandfather had been hauled up for questioning.
“The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty,” he said.
