Elderly Woman dies in snatch theft attack


SEREMBAN: A 64-year-old woman, riding pillion with her daughter, was killed after she fell off the motorcycle while fending off two snatch thieves at Jalan Datuk Haji Said here this afternoon.



Jamariah Akhir, who worked as a cleaner at a Maybank outlet in Jalan Datuk Bandar Tunggal, was on her way home from work with her daughter Norain Mohd Yusof, 23, in the 3.55pm incident.
A police spokesman said the women were surprised by two men on a Kriss motorcycle who grabbed their handbags placed in the front basket.
He said the mother and daughter fell off their motorcycle when Norain lost control of the bike during the struggle

"Jamariah died on the spot due to severe head and body injuries."

"Her daughter who suffered minor injuries, was sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban," he said.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainal Abu who confirmed the report, said the case was being investigated for murder.
