RM1 million cash missing: Two security guards arrested

Following the loss that occurred during the collection process on Thursday, the police received a report regarding the rediscovery of the bag containing RM 1 million in cash on the same day.
AMPANG JAYA: Two security guards were detained for further investigation related to the disappearance of a bag containing RM1 million in cash near Ampang Point on Wednesday.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said, the two suspects were arrested by a team of police officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) at around 10pm.
"The two arrested suspects are a man and a woman aged 38 and 52 respectively.
"The two suspects who are security guards were also found not to have any past criminal records based on the review carried out," he said in a statement yesterday.
He said, the suspect is now remanded for four days for further investigation.
Mohd Azam said that following the loss of the cash, his party had received a report regarding the rediscovery of a bag containing RM 1 million in cash yesterday.
"The discovery report was made by the public at about 9.20 am.
"The inspection carried out on the bag involved confirmed that it belonged to a security company and contained RM1,071,000 in cash," he said.
Earlier, the police informed that the bag containing the cash that was reported missing was found the same day at the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Expressway (AKLEH) on Wednesday.
Selangor Deputy Chief of Police, Datuk S Sasikala Devi said, preliminary investigation found that the money was found by members of the public while passing by the location.
