LIVERPOOL enjoyed a perfect day when they came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 in an English Premier League (EPL) match at Anfield Stadium.
Mohamed Salah secured three points for Liverpool in what was billed as a replay after the two sides clashed in the League Cup stage which saw the visitors win 3-2 at the Amex Stadium.
However Liverpool fell behind in the 14th minute, after Turkiye international Ferdi Kadioglu's effort beat Caoimhin Kelleher, as the visitors dominated play in the first half.
In the second half, Arne Slot's squad came out aggressively fighting to equalize and eventually found a goal through Cody Gakpo's goal in the 70th minute.
The goal boosted the morale of the Reds who then saw a stunning attempt by Salah two minutes later for the Merseyside club's 25th league point.
The eighth league victory put the Slot team back at the top after EPL title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal suffered surprise away defeats.
Liverpool moved two points clear of champions Manchester City who lost 1-2 to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsenal also lost 0-1 during their visit to St James's Park thanks to a 12th-minute goal by Swedish star Alexander Isak.
