KUALA LUMPUR: Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz joined Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the United States (US) Presidential Election.
Republican candidate Trump, 78, defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 US Presidential Election held on Tuesday.
Tengku Zafrul through a message on his 'X' platform on Wednesday said that the US and Malaysia have had economic relations and trade partnerships for a long time.
"The US has consistently been one of Malaysia's main trading partners and one of the largest investors in our country. The relationship between the people of both countries spans generations, across various fields such as education, as well as family and friendship.
"I hope -- especially with Malaysia taking over the ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship -- to be able to work with my counterpart in the new US administration to strengthen and increase mutual benefits, whether bilaterally or multilaterally," he said.
