Sri Lanka exempts visa fees for tourists from 6 countries including Malaysia

The exemption of visa fees to Sri Lanka aims to attract more tourists from the country to meet the target of five million tourists per year.
MOSCOW: The Sri Lankan government has approved visa fee waivers with immediate effect until March 31 for tourists from seven countries, Sptunik reported citing Foreign Minister Ali Sabry's statement on Tuesday.
"The Cabinet approved the exemption with immediate effect for citizens of India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand, under a pilot project until March 31," according to Sabry on the X social media platform.
Earlier this month, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said Sri Lanka planned to abolish visas for visitors from China, Russia, India, Thailand and Indonesia.
The decision aims to attract more tourists from the country to meet the target of five million tourists per year.
