A man was injured after his vehicle was hit by a luxury car that was driven against the traffic flow in an incident on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here, early Monday morning.
North East District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said, in the incident at 12.30am, the driver of a Perodua Bezza car coming from the Penang Bridge towards the city center collided with a BMW car driven by a woman.
According to him, the driver of the Perodua Bezza was heading from Sungai Petani to Mount Erskine Crystal Park before being involved in an accident at the exit of the bridge.
"As a result of the collision, the Perodua Bezza driver suffered abdominal injuries and is still receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital emergency ward, while the BMW driver is still receiving treatment at a private hospital for chest injuries.
"So far, statements from both drivers have not yet been taken because they are still receiving further treatment from the hospital," he said in a statement here on Monday.
Soffian said, the investigation is still continuing according to Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He called on the public who have any information related to the incident to contact the nearby police station or the Investigating Officer of the North East IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, Inspector Mohd Azli Khairil bin Mat Lazin on 019-5946806 to assist with the investigation.
