IPOH: Pasir Bedamar State Assemblyman Terence Naidu lodged a police report regarding his arrest at a nightclub in Perai, Penang, last Thursday.
In a short message to reporters, the DAP assemblyman however did not elaborate on the details of the police report he made.
He said he would also make a statement in the near future about his detention. "I have lodged a police report and will make a statement," he said
Earlier, an assemblyman from Perak was reportedly detained by police in a raid on an entertainment centre in Perai yesterday on suspicion of drug testing.
Meanwhile, Perak DAP Chairman Nga Kor Ming said Terence Naidu had been asked to submit a written report to the DAP regarding his detention.
He added that a full report was needed to keep the party leadership at both the state and Central levels informed of the real situation.
"I have contacted Terence Naidu and confirmed that he was arrested last Thursday night.
"He has been released on police bail, in which case I have requested that he submit a written report on the incident to the party," he said in a statement here yesterday.
According to him, the DAP assures the public that the party takes the conduct and integrity of each of its elected representatives seriously.
"They should be exemplary examples as people who have been entrusted to lead the people," he said.
GEORGE TOWN: Police are completing a case investigation paper involving a Perak State Assemblyman who was arrested in Penang following a drug test in a raid on a family karaoke centre in Perai, on Thursday.
ACP Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah, head of penang's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), said the investigation paper on the case is expected to be submitted to the State Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action next week.
"The case is still under investigation. We're still waiting for a pathology report. "We will present the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once the investigation is completed and a pathology report is obtained next week," he said
Mustafa Kamal said the 54-year-old assemblyman, who was remanded in custody one day, was released yesterday.
Also released were two policemen from the Penang and Perak contingents, who were also detained along with him on the day of the raid.
He said all 36 arrests were investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952.
On Friday, police confirmed a Perak state assemblyman was arrested following a drug test in a raid on a family entertainment centre in Perai.
The raid was carried out by a team of police from the Integrity and Compliance Standards Department (JIPS) of Bukit Aman.
A total of 48 individuals were arrested with 36 of them related to narcotics cases, while another 12 were related to criminal cases.
