The cabinet has agreed to appoint former PM Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yasin as the chairperson of the National Recovery Council.
The position comes with ministerial rank.
The govt stated that they are confident Mahiaddin has the capabilities to lead the strategy.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet today agreed to appoint former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Chairman of the Majlis Pemulihan Negara with Ministerial status.
The matter was informed by the Chief Secretary to the Government who is also the Secretary to the Cabinet, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali in a statement on Saturday.
He explained that the appointment was informed to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
"This appointment was also made on the basis of the Government's confidence in the ability of YB Tan Sri Dato 'Haji Mahiaddin bin Haji Md Yasin to lead the country's recovery strategy, in order to achieve the best economic impact and restore the lives of the people severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The Government congratulates YB Tan Sri Dato 'Haji Mahiaddin bin Haji Md Yasin on this appointment," he said in the statement.
