Admission Of Citizens from 5 Countries Subject To MyTravelPass Conditions

PUTRAJAYA: Citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal can now enter the country to work, but must follow the conditions set by the Immigration Department.

Its director -general, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud, said although the Pandemic Management Special Committee agreed to allow the re -entry of people from the five countries, they would have to comply with the conditions contained in MyTravelPass.

"Their entry is still subject to the conditions in MyTravelPass. They can enter to work in Malaysia as long as they follow all the conditions set," 

Earlier, the media reported that the decision to end additional restrictions on the entry of travelers from the five countries was implemented immediately in a notification letter from the Director General of Immigration dated September 20.

Through the letter, the entry of the citizens concerned must be made carefully by targeting the category of Permanent Residents (PR), long -term pass holders, business visitors and investors.

He said foreign visitors allowed to enter must comply with the requirements for complete vaccination, screening test procedures upon arrival and quarantine in Malaysia as set by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to curb the spread of the new variants of COVID-19 in the country.

Among the foreigners who can apply in MyTravelPass are PR status, individuals who apply through employers for the Foreign Maid (PRA) and Temporary Working Visit Pass (PLKS) categories.

Meanwhile, through the official MyTravelPass website, employers and foreigners have to go through several processes before being allowed to enter the country.

Among others, employers need to apply in advance by attaching an official application letter, the front and back pages of the foreign worker's passport and the latest visit pass for temporary employment.

For foreign workers, they have to undergo a COVID-19 health screening in their respective countries at least three days before departure and are medically negative and are required to download the Mysejahtera application.

Their entry into Malaysia is only through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), KLIA2, Bayan Lepas International Airport and Sultan Ismail International Airport, Senai, Johor.

These foreign workers must also attach a valid Temporary Employment Visa with a re -entry visa or a Temporary Employment Pass Visa without a re -entry visa. All foreign nationals must obtain a visa before entering.

They are also required to obtain a visa without reference (VTR) from the Malaysian Embassy, ​​Consulate or High Commission before entering the country.
