461 individuals detained for violating SOP, cross-border travel highest

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 461 individuals were arrested for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in compliance operations carried out by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on Friday.
Cross-state or cross-district travel recorded the highest number of offences at 135 cases, followed by 128 people who failed to comply with physical distancing instructions.
According to Senior Minister (Defence Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, other offences recorded were failure to provide equipment to record personal and customer details (72 cases), failure to wear face mask (77) while others (42).
"Of the total, 430 have been compounded while 31 were remanded," he said in a statement on Saturday.
On Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said, 11 illegal immigrants (PATI) and three skippers were detained while eight land vehicles were seized through the operation, yesterday.
"During the operation, the authorities also tracked 119 boats or ships in the country's waters through four sighting activities," he added.
A total of 543 roadblocks (SJR) were also carried out nationwide on Friday.
