Gerakan, which recently welcomed Perak's Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam into its fold, received further boost when a group of 40 people, half of them former Umno members, joined the party today, Saturday, July 11th.
The group of 40, led by former Pinang Jaya Umno branch chief Mohd Aswat Jaafar, 37, handed over their membership application forms to Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau at the state party headquarters in George Town.
Aswat said they decided to join Gerakan as it was a multi-racial party.
