GEORGE TOWN: Two motorcyclists are reported to have been killed and another was injured after a car from the opposite lane crashed head-on into them on Jalan Thean Teik in Farlim here.

According to an eyewitness, the car had dashed out from a junction and went into the opposite lane, ramming the three motorcyclists.

The car then came to a halt some 100m away.

The motorcyclists and their mangled motorcycles were seen sprawled on the road after the accident which occurred at about 7pm Tuesday (Feb 11) while it was raining.

"The car dashed out from the junction and its tyre marks could be seen on the road.

"It hit three motorcyclists before screeching to a halt," said the man who witnessed the incident.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong confirmed the case, saying the car was driven by a man in his 20s.

He said two of the motorcyclists, a 58-year-old man man and a 41-year-old woman, were killed, while another, a 21-year-old man, was injured.

ACP Soffian added that checks on the driver found he had no criminal record, only a past traffic offence from an accident he was involved in.

Alcohol and urine tests are being done.

Police have yet to release the identities of the deceased.
