KUALA LUMPUR: Police have issued a National Urgent Response (NUR) alert after an 11-year-old girl went missing here Wednesday (Feb 19).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Noor Azmi Yusoff said they were alerted to the incident after the girl, identified as Fulmina Abdul Ghufur, went to a shop and did not return home.

"The girl lives at Jalan Bunga Tanjung 7, Taman Muda, Ampang and told her father she was going to the shop at 7.30pm on Feb 15 to buy food.

"When she did not come home after more than 30 minutes, he went out to look for her at the nearby shops but to no avail," he said when contacted Tuesday (Feb 18).

He said the man then organised a search party with several friends and searched the area but efforts were futile.

"He lodged a police report immediately after.

"This is the first time the girl has not returned home," he said adding that they have issued a NUR alert.

ACP Noor Azmi said the girl is from Myanmar and has a UNHCR card.

He urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact Insp Shahidatul Nur Mohd Yusoff at 03-4289 7222 or go to the nearest police station.
