SEREMBAN: Members of the public have been reminded that taking photographs or videos at public health facilities without prior approval is prohibited, after a clip of a doctor getting into an argument with his patient at a government clinic here went viral.

Acting state health director Dr Mohamad Faid Abd Rashid said this was simply not allowed to safeguard the privacy of other patients seeking treatment at such facilities.

"Any complaint against anyone should be made through the proper channel.

"It is our hope that the public would understand why photography or videography is not allowed and strictly adhere to this," he said in a statement.

On the 29-second clip, Dr Mohamad Faid said the matter has been amicably resolved after talks with both parties.

"We called the complainant known as Loshsine Uthi Kumaran Loshyy after she uploaded her displeasure with the doctor concerned on Facebook and WhatsApp.

"We had also called her personally to get more information on what happened and would like to state it has been resolved," he said, adding that the department viewed the matter seriously.

He appealed to the public not to speculate or make assumptions and they could always get the necessary information from his department or the Health Ministry.

Dr Mohamad Faid said his department welcomed feedback from the public, as it strives to improve its services.

In the clip, the doctor could be heard shouting at the complainant and a man believed to be her father, in his room.

The incident happened around 7.10pm at the clinic on Monday (Feb 17).

The woman, who allegedly recorded the incident, claimed she went to seek treatment at the clinic after coming down with flu and cough.

In her Facebook post, she went on to allege that the doctor didn't examine her and merely said he would be prescribing her cough mixture.

However, when she went to the pharmacy, she was given medicine for flu and diarrhoea.

She claimed that when she told the pharmacist she didn't have diarrhoea but had a cough, she was told to go back to the doctor's room so that he could enter the changes into the computer system.

She did as told, but the doctor apparently told her to just inform the pharmacist of the change verbally.

The patient then went back and told the pharmacist of what the doctor had told her and was again asked to wait.

After some 15 minutes, the pharmacist allegedly told her that she would still have to see the doctor again so that he could enter the changes in the system.

When the complainant and her father went to see the doctor again, he apparently shouted at them and could be heard saying he would "settle" her case after he sees the patient before him.

It could not be immediately established what transpired before he apparently lost his cool.

When her father allegedly asked how long more they had to wait and how the doctor could have made a mistake and prescribed the wrong medicine, the doctor again told them that they could get out if they could not wait.

The complainant can then be heard asking the doctor if he worked with the government and asked to show his face while she recorded the incident on her mobile phone.

The doctor admitted that he was and looked into the camera.

Then the complainant could be heard telling the doctor that the recording would be made viral and the doctor told her to just do it.

The man believed to be the father could then be heard telling the doctor that he may be a doctor, but was a "stupid one".

The doctor then again told them that if they could not wait, they should just get out.

The clip ended with the complainant telling the doctor that he was the one who should get lost.
